Lewis Hamilton - McLaren’s rookie racerThe whole Lewis Hamilton hooplah has me in a bit of a quandry.

Last year, I saw him race in GP2 and was excited at the prospect of him stepping up to Formula 1 - and in a McLaren to boot. It seemed too good to be true, a young and obviously talented British driver being given a chance to fulfill his lifelong dream and race in the pinnacle series of motorsport with a top team, hopefully giving him a chance to shine and challenge for points from the very start.

Bernie Ecclestone - F1 ringmaster and supremoBernie Ecclestone, Formula One’s “ringmaster” as he is often described, has stated that the sport which is meant to be at the cutting edge of technological development is finally going to catch up with football and the rest of the sporting world by offering their broadcasts in high-definition later in the year.

It’s not strictly fair to portray Bernie as being behind the game, as he actually was one of the first to instigate the multi-camera angle broadcast idea a few years ago when there was a subscription channel dedicated to the F1 races - in fact he was a bit too ahead of the game there and the technology seemed to confuse viewers and the subscribers dwindled as a result.

Tom Cruise - Scientology MemberI’ve just finished watching this week’s Panorama - not a programme I normally watch, but the pre-broadcast hype about the conduct of the presenter made me intrigued about the content of the show.

Having watched the whole thing rather than the clips available earlier on YouTube, I can understand why the presenter, John Sweeney, flipped out - although the Scientologists would counter that by saying we have only seen the BBC’s side of the story.

If you haven’t seen the show, then basically the BBC were initially granted access by the Scientologists but subject to certain conditions - conditions the BBC felt they couldn’t abide by if they were to give a balanced and fair argument for and against the movement.

Lost - The hit ABC showI’m going to surmise that the whole premise behind the show of Lost is to confuse, bewilder and annoy the life out of it’s viewers - and it seems to be working a treat!

The show is nearing the end of it’s third series (or season as they call them in the US of A), and it’s just been announced that the show will carry on for another three slightly shorter seasons with the finale of all finales airing in 2010 when we will finally discover what the hell is going on!

David Coulthard - Red Bull RacingWell I asked and hoped for a points scoring finish from David Coulthard and that’s exactly what he provided! It was a bit touch and go however in a very action-packed Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The attention at the first corner was focussed mainly on Fernando Alonso’s failed attempt at overtaking Felipe Massa around the outside, a move which resulted in a trip through the gravel trap for the Spaniard at his home Grand Prix, and he was actually very lucky not to collect either Lewis Hamilton or Kimi Raikkonen as he rejoined the track.
