David Coulthard - Red Bull RacingThe week prior to today’s Spanish Grand Prix, David Coulthard and Red Bull in general had a relatively productive test session at the Barcelona circuit which culminated in DC being fastest on the final day, and indeed fastest overall, setting a new lap record into the bargain.

We’ve seen before, however, that it can prove difficult to transfer testing pace into qualifying and then race pace, so it was a pleasant surprise that DC managed to get through to the final session of qualifying yesterday and make the top ten on the grid for the first time this season.

Singapore skylineIt’s been confirmed that as of next year, Formula One will be hosting a night race in Singapore - should make for interesting viewing, and will also mean the race is televised at a reasonable hour for us fans watching in Europe.

While I think it’s important that the sport continues to strive forward, to new places and introducing new ideas, I also think that the safety of spectators and drivers should be of paramount importance. To that end, it’s surely sensible to have to test this new format of F1 racing - presumably by lighting a track with the same equipment that’s being proposed for Singapore and then letting some of the cars loose on it.

Christopher Brookmyre - A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil Anyone who has read any of Christopher Brookmyre’s previous books will know what to expect here - brilliantly realistic characters, excellently written dialogue (if a little hard to read for the non-Scots among his fans!) and a well thought out story.

His latest offerings have all had the underlying feeling that they could easily be transformed onto the big screen as the pace of the story seems perfect for that medium.

Travis - The Boy With No NameThe first album from Fran Healy and the boys in quite a while - and thankfully it’s been worth the wait!

With most albums, after a couple of listens in quick succession then there are one or two tracks which you want to skip - then with further listens you find another couple until you basically end up listening to just the handful of songs which have eventually been released as singles! Since buying this album a couple of days ago, I’ve listened to it right through 7 or 8 times and haven’t skipped a track yet.
