December 2007

The England football team has been without a manager for a couple of weeks now and already we have been inundated with stories linking everyone from Martin O’Neill to Sir Alex Ferguson with the job.

One by one, the supposed candidates have counted themselves out of the running, but then without a firm offer of work they would say that wouldn’t they?  Why run the risk of upsetting your own team’s fans and more importantly your current employer by openly courting another job in public?

But assuming the likes of O’Neill, Curbishley etc are all geniunely not after the job then who is really in the frame?

I’m a fan of Aberdeen FC when it comes to football, but in European competitions I will gladly support any Scottish team which is playing as their success is going for Scottish football as a whole.

This is easy for me as a fan of a non-Old Firm side, Rangers fans can find it hard to wish Celtic well and vice versa however.  I find this rather stupid, but there you go.

It seems Fernando Alonso is being backed into a corner slightly over where he will be driving next season.

Assuming there is to be no contract breaking going on, then where can he go?

There has been much speculation on this which I won’t go over again, but basically he seems to have a realistic choice between Renault and Toyota - between a team who were once great and could believably be great again, and a team who has loads of money, but are unlikely to be great anytime soon.

There is also a vacant seat at McLaren, but that’s hardly a likely option!

I’ve been watching this story develop over the past week or so, and my viewpoint on it has changed slightly, but not very much.

I don’t want to say too much on it, but the stance that this woman has done nothing wrong and was jailed for something silly only stands up when compared to the laws and ways of life in this country.

Say you want to buy a car, a really nice desirable car that you want to show off to other people - what is the main decision you have to make, apart from which model to buy?

To me, it has to be which colour to choose from the multitude of metallic and pearlescent hues on offer in the manufacturer’s brochure.

This colour should not only say something about you as the owner, it should also show off the curves and lines of the car’s design to their best effect.  The colour is also important for the future as it could have a beneficial or detremental effect on the future value of the car when it comes time to hand it in and purchase a new one.
