Fantasy F1 2008
Posted by Craig under Formula 1 and sport with the tags fantasy • Formula 1 • Sidepodcast • sportEverybody who watches sport likes to think they could do a better job than the manager of whichever team they support, be it football, Formula 1, rugby, cricket or whatever.
In the past, I’ve had an attempt at fantasy football but never ventured into the fantasy F1 realm before.
Sidepodcast have posted about this subject though which has prompted me to give it a go this year. They have set up a league on www.fantasyracers.com where anyone can register a team and then join their league (see Sidepodcast’s post here for details of how to join their league) which I’ve duly done.
It’s not too involved unlike some other fantasy sport games - basically you have a set budget of $35million and can choose as many drivers as you can afford with that sum rather than having to also try to choose chassis manufacturers, engine suppliers etc which may feature in other games.
At the moment I’ve gone for Raikkonen, Heidfeld, Glock and Rosberg but as you are allowed to change your mind as often as you like prior to the season starting, I’m sure that lineup will change more than once!
So go on, give it a go - should make the season even more interesting!

Thanks for joining us Craig.
Everyone seems to have gone for Raikkonen, and I’m starting to think that my choice of Button may not be based on sensible rational criteria.
Hmm.

Christine » I must admit that Heidfeld was actually in my second attempt at choosing the drivers - Coulthard was in my first pick but as with your Button choice I think DC was a vote from my heart rather than my head!
He may still make it in there though as I’m sure there will be more tweaking before the Oz GP…
