TV award shows are generally to be avoided - a two-hour “extravaganza” with much backslapping among the luvvies.
And so it was that I managed to miss out on much of the BAFTA awards tonight, but still learned that ITV had won once more in the sport category. Now this isn’t a surprise as they had three nominations up for the award against only one from the BBC.
However, it’s the nomination which won that caught my eye. Was it for their coverage of the annual university boat race, or the Rugby World Cup? Nope, it was for their F1 coverage of the Canadian grand prix.

How did I miss out on watching Gavin & Stacey? The answer is simple really, it’s because it was on BBC3 first time around, and I simply don’t think to keep an eye on what’s on that channel - but I’ve no excuses for missing it when it was repeated on BBC2 at the end of last year.
I stumbled across an episode from the second series on BBC3 the other night and thought it was hilarious, the best thing I’d seen in absolutely ages -and British to boot!

running [3] Comments
Since the last update, we have been out running on Tuesday morning and again this morning.
Tuesday was meant to see us up the distance a bit to two and a half miles, but this wasn’t achieved - although not really because we couldn’t, rather because we didn’t want to!
Firstly, I’ve switch my Garmin over to show kilometres rather than miles as we were spending most of our time wondering how many km we had covered, so it made sense to start recording our distances using those units.

In last night’s Old Firm match, Celtic were denied a clear goal when Carlos Cuellar blocked a Shunsuke Nakamura shot with his hand right on the goal-line. There was no way the shot was going to miss without his intervention and he was rightly redcarded and his team were reduced to ten men.
Celtic were then awarded a penalty, which they contrived to miss.
Is the sending off of one player and the award of a penalty punishment enough to a team in Rangers position?

Another day, another story on the news about young people being killed in a car accident. In this one a driver tried to race through a level crossing warning so he wouldn’t have to stop. The 17-year old driver didn’t make it through and his two 17-year old passengers died in the resulting collision with the train. From the picture I find it hard to believe even the driver got out of that wreck alive.
Why does this keep happening? Why does noone learn from other people’s previous mistakes?
