General

For one reason or another I was reminded of this song today - it’s something we used to sing when I was a youngster and we were heading off on a schooltrip somewhere on a bus.

Haven’t a clue who wrote it or whether I’m infringing on some copyright issues by printing the lyrics here, but never mind…

It’s called Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny and is sung to the tune of She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain :-

Oh ye cannae shove yer Granny aff a bus,
Oh ye cannae shove yer Granny aff a bus,
Ye cannae shove yer Granny
For she’s yer Mammie’s Mammie,
Ye canna shove yer Granny aff a bus.

Good to see he appears to have got over it okay…

Car crash at Level CrossingAnother day, another story on the news about young people being killed in a car accident.  In this one a driver tried to race through a level crossing warning so he wouldn’t have to stop.  The 17-year old driver didn’t make it through and his two 17-year old passengers died in the resulting collision with the train.  From the picture I find it hard to believe even the driver got out of that wreck alive.

Why does this keep happening?  Why does noone learn from other people’s previous mistakes?

I’m not really one to judge someone else on their appearance, each to their own and all that, but sometimes people lay themselves open to criticism and I just can’t help myself.

Over the years the newspapers have been full of allegations regarding various bits of plastic surgery Michael Jackson is meant to have undertaken - claims he has almost always denied.  To look at photographic evidence however few people would accept this as the truth though.

Last night I watched a little TV, not too much as I was busy with something else, but even in the short time I was actually looking at the screen I saw adverts for everything from cars to feminine hygiene products yet today I have bought absolutely nothing.

I can’t think of a single time where an advert has made me want to buy  a product I didn’t already want or need anyway.  There have been occasions when I would have perhaps seen an advert for something, such as deodorant for example, where I would normally buy one brand but instead bought this other brand because of the advert I’d seen for it - but I was going to buy deodorant of one kind or another so what the advert succeeded in doing was to lure me over from another manufacturer.
