It was a real struggle getting back up for work again today - not helped by the fact that it is bitterly cold outside.

Welcome to 2008!

It’s been a while since I posted anything on here - simply because it’s been a while since I was last at a computer.  The weekend before Christmas was spent in Paris, and the time from Christmas Eve until yesterday was spent at Kirsty’s parents’ house - a lovely time was had by all (I think, or at least I had a lovely time anyway!).

So what has happened since last we spoke?  Well…

This is still rather dominating things on blogs and forums, although things have slackened off a bit since yesterday.

The Committee in charge of organising the London Olympics have come out in defence of the logo - or “brand” as they call it - and I can understand why they are probably a bit miffed at all the attention it’s receiving.  Most people are complaining that they could have done something similar themselves, and all for a lot less than the £400,000 this image is reported to have cost.

Now, I know design is somewhat subjective and everyone has different tastes but this logo which was unveiled today has caused more than a little upset.

This is meant to be “the people’s Olympics” or a soundbite similar to that, so the least we could expect is a logo which the people actually like!! Or even understand…

The unveiling ceremony was full of the usual marketing-speak mumbo-jumbo which used as many big words as possible to say very little - apparently it was impressive stuff, until the logo itself made an appearance at least!
