After a bit of fiddling about - okay, a lot of fiddling about and trial and error, I think I’ve got the site looking a bit better.  In my opinion anyway!

I’ve always meant to change the header image away from the default Connections image and have finally now done it - although I’m not overly happy with the one I’ve replaced it with!  It’s an easy job to replace it though once I’ve found one I’m happier with - the nighttime shot that’s up there just now had to be cropped and stretched a bit to fit, so I’m off on a quest to find a picture I’ve taken that will fit better without the need to stretch it too much.

Further to this post, I saw a natty plugin featuring in the sidebar of a nice blog which I thought I could make use of.

It’s called Now Reading, and basically shows what book you are currently reading (hence the name…), and allows you to link through to the book in Amazon to retrieve the book cover, etc.  You can also add various other information about when you started and finished reading it, as well as doing a little review.

Sounded good to me so I downloaded and activated it - and it looked terrible!

Why is it that you spend ages trying to get your blog to look just the way you want it and then as soon as you do, you decide that there’s bound to be a better gadget out there somewhere that you simply must have in your sidebar, or a nicer theme or whatever?

Today I decided to upgrade the version of WordPress which is running on my site - the new one has been out for a little whole now and promises a whole raft of improvements but to be honest I was worried that it would knacker everything I already had so that was putting me off upgrading.  I’ve bit the bullet though and touch wood, everything seems to be okay.
